iTunes on a Mac

Pat Carty's picture

Lately I've been noticing that the sound coming out of iTunes is not all it could be. Tracks seem to have more power if played as a preview within a folder in the finder then they do in the dedicated software. I remember reading on here or in the magazine about an application that made iTunes sound glorious. Anyone know what I'm talking about and remember it's for a Mac and not Windows. Thanks.

Could it just be that the

preview is louder than the music played through iTunes?

Application

I believe Andrew Harrisson swears by Volume Logic, but it's been discontinued, and you may have to poke around some of the darker corners of the web to find a fully-functioning version that works with recent Macs.

Leopard

Found the version for Leopard here if anyone else is looking for it.

You may be thinking of SRS iWOW

You may be thinking of SRS iWOW, a sound enhancer which allows you to tweak the sound to your taste. Not one for the hi-fi purists, but it does work, and hey, digital music isn't for the hi-fi purists in the first place, I guess:

Also, try iVolume, which makes a better job of equalising the sound levels of tracks than the built-in service in iTunes:
