Its time for that monthly game...

... who'll be on the cover of this month's The WORD?

I'll go first with:

(a bearded) Neil Young.

Would like: Julian Cope

Great new album out now and gigs coming up.

Will probably get: Leonard Cohen.

Alex Chilton

that's what I heard anyways.

Chris G | 3 November 2008 - 1:02pm

Strange..

..just what I was thinking!

SimonL | 3 November 2008 - 1:21pm

Isn't that the cove...

...who's divorcing his wife Guy something or other?

Stan Halen | 4 November 2008 - 2:44am

I was so wrong last time...

...when I said Elbow would be too obvious for Word, how about Snow Patrol or Keane? Both better than their critical profile would have them, both not as good as their commercial profile, perfect other-world Word material?

WG

If they go with the mock up of the great WG they've made a lifetime subscriber out of me. Music, film, books and cricket. The perfect magazine.

Madrid | 3 November 2008 - 1:41pm

I thought it was Seasick

Ebbot Lundberg - designed for the Word cover

Ebbot, from Swedish psych rockers The Soundtrack of Our Lives, would be a perfect choice - new album out soon, Word Massive friendly music, a fine musical pedigree (his previous band was the amazing Union Carbide Productions).

Great humourist, raconteur and record producer - could also be a good
outside bet to take over from Robert Plant in the "new" Led Zeppelin, he has already performed their songs live on stage at the Swedish Polar Prize in front of Plant, Page and Jones. Most importantly he sports a mighty fine beard!"

Retro Man | 3 November 2008 - 4:57pm

Ebbott

Until just now, I had no idea Ebbott Lundbergh was in Union Carbide Productions prior to The Soundtrack Of Our Lives.

I loved that band.

Various

I think there'll be some best of the year stuff and a few different faces at once.

kidpresentable | 3 November 2008 - 4:57pm

Damn...

... why didn't I think of that.

My head is just not in the "end-of-year" mode yet (well, it is only the 3rd of November).

It'll be interesting to see who made it onto the end-of-year cd too.

Surely, The Felice Brothers make an appearance ????

Nicodemus | 3 November 2008 - 5:16pm

Too early

I got in too early with that one it seems - end of year lists will be next month, so that's a rollover prediction from me.

I suppose we've missed the deadline for...

...Russell Brand as a front cover and an extract from that phone call on the CD? They could put a Satanic Slut on the CD mount. As it were.

skirky | 3 November 2008 - 6:48pm

AC

bloody DC

Stevegc | 4 November 2008 - 4:56am

Damon Albarn....

The "Monkey" opera is happening at the moment, there is Gorillaz and of course Blur.
Lot's to talk about there and I for one would be interested.

Scott Wilkinson | 4 November 2008 - 6:44am

Albarn is barred....

Until he comes out and says "World Music" ten times in a minute.

John Waite | 4 November 2008 - 3:08pm

He's bearded! His time has come!

And the boxset is out for Christmas:

Chris Lowe...

Aren't the PSB's up for some kind of Lifetime Achievement/Death Knell award?

John Waite | 4 November 2008 - 12:24pm

Isn't there a publishing law

that says never put anyone in sunglasses on your front cover?

Chris G | 4 November 2008 - 12:57pm

Hmmm......Hello!

Posh in shades seems to be single handedly keeping Hello!'s circulation alive with a very natty pair of Dior's.

If Bono can get away with it (do blue shades count?) - the ice cool Chris Lowe surely can
