I had a genuine, and rare, WTF moment when I first heard this on Peel. One of the few times when I've heard something totally unlike anything that went before it.

Sindecut - Kickin' Yeah
A Tribe Called Quest - If The Papes Come

Were supposed to do a live gig in Brighton, They walked into the venue demanded a Led Zep style PA and said no DJ could use that equipment. Step forward ,DJ Cut Le Roc who blew them off stage using said Shit equipment . They stormed off in a huff refusing to do the gig only to return later to try to get paid, total arses.
A week later we had Kid 'n'Play. Absolute joy to work with.
Mos Def!
Well, in that case...
Digital Underground, Packet Man (Worth a Packet Mix)

"It's not old school 'cause we are not old and we ain't at school"-Tim Westwood
Freda
Bit off topic but it's great when you find the original track the sample comes from and it's brilliant.
Flip over Band of Gold
and you get the other sample. Unhooked Generation was the single before
Band of Gold.
The original and still the best

Boogie Down Productions, "The Bridge is Over".
That record was the hip hop equivalent of Martin McGuinness and Ian Paisley shaking hands and having a laugh together.
Well as it's Saturday:
(De La Soul - A Roller Skating Jam Named Saturdays)
And for good measure:
(Jurassic 5 - Concrete Schoolyard)
I should have posted...
... that De La Soul track - particularly as I love that 2nd album which got absolutely panned on release.
I find
That it has aged far better than its much feted predecessor
I still
love their first three albums. The third is fabulous.
All great tunes
But alarmingly tasteful so far. Allow me to lower the tone

I didn't even need to use my AK...
A little reflective G-Funk as the day draws to a close
(Ice Cube/Today Was A Good Day)
And from Ice Cube to Ice-T
And the award for best use of a Roxy Music sample in Hip-Hop
"That's How I'm Livin'"
