It's not April 1st

Carl Parker's picture

yet I just received news of this gig:

http://www.livenation.co.uk/artist/lou-reed-s-metal-machine-trio-mm3-tic...

Would he be doing it if that classical group (Zeitkrater?) hadn't done it?
I'd advise anyone going to wear earplugs, but on the other hand if you're crazy enough to buy a ticket I don't suppose you'd bother as you'd want to hear the unadorned glory.
I'm perversely looking forward to reading My Night Out With Lou Reed.

Why oh why is Lester Bangs dead?!

He would love this!

Lou Reed is a very strange man.

But have you heard Rock'n'Roll Animal?

For anyone who found his toneless, ironic "singing" a bit tedious over the course of a whole album, this straightforward, twin guitar attack of a rock album is a real find.

Recommended then.

This is a great live

This is a great live recording of Reed, whooping Americans aside http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=90226727, especially the versions of Power of the Heart (as covered by Peter Gabriel on his new Scratch My Back album), Video Violence, Guardian Angel and Magic and Loss.

What a twat

this man is.

Only ever rivalled by Jim Morrison, and he's been dead the guts of forty years.

Strange,

He speaks very highly of you.

I've just noticed that he's playing Oxford...

maybe I'll go for a laugh.

It makes a change from The Krankies, The Wurzels and Status Quo, which is the kind of act that normally visits these parts.

Saw him on his recent world tour

when it reached down under (so to speak). He had his Tai Chi master and Antony (of the Johnsons, pre-fame) in tow, and both active on stage (ranging from weird to astonishing). Loved it, but I couldn't convince anyone else to go..... Not so sure about Metal Machine Music though.

Purely a public service announcement

Some people evidently went.
Not only that they thought it was worth recording and so for your listening pleasure Zomb Torrents has an audience recording available of the Oxford rendition to share.
