It's for my mum

Another autograph thread. Who, when, why. Also time to admit it...have you ever signed autograph? Well I was asked but was mistaken for James Warren (Stackridge, natch!) at Cropredy. I declined. I'm sure those blokes off the Whistle Test have signed a few bus tickets/bare midriffs/plaster casts in their time.
Would you want to sign an autograph or hundreds. Nearest I have got was signing hundreds of computer-printed cheques on a monthly purchase ledger run. Bloody boring. I've seen Leonard Nimoy at a book signing whisking though a pile of books in hardly any time at all with a barely legible scribble and without looking up at the star-struck recipient. I've also seen the like of Toyah Wilcox/Jeff Wayne/him-off-Red-Dwarf at a memorabilia show desperate to sign an autograph for anyone.
Must dig some out of the archives. Sure I have some pop stuff signed "to Beany.."

Here's mine.

You know you've arrived
when you have one of those special silver-ink pens for signing CD covers.
I signed an autograph once.
Way, way back in the day I took the lead role in a thinly-disguised Godspell/Joseph/Jesus Christ Superstar rip-off entitled 'A Boy Called David', based upon the David and Goliath story.
I was that boy called David. I was 15.
The show was performed in our local church hall, and we went out on a mini-tour as well. Of other church halls in the neighbourhood.
After one such performance, relaxing in the curtained-off section of church hall that was our dressing room, someone passed a scrunched up piece of paper through the curtain for me to sign.
I signed.
In the intervening 35 years, no-one has (yet) asked me for another autograph.
Like Michael Jackson, Donny Osmond and Mark Lester before me, I peaked early.
Dread Zeppelin
I bought some bargain DZ CDs on eBay from the USA. When they arrived they also included this photo - seems I had bought direct from the remaining members of the band.

I bought Clerks from Kevin Smith's online store...
...and it came signed. I believe he's one of those people, like Terry Pratchett, whose work is worth more if it's *not* signed by the author.
I queued up to get Kate Bush's autograph, but couldn't wait so bailed, plus I'd already (nearly) knocked her over - she's tiny!. My mate waited 4 hours and had the door shut in his face, so I guess I made a good call.
The Rev W. V. Awdry kindly signed a couple of Thomas the Tank Engines for me.
I've never signed an autograph, it seems my 15 minutes has yet to come.
