It's a mash-up

Johnny The Fox's picture

This Saturday I will be attending the Lord's Sausage and Mash night. Complete with onion gravy and possibly a surprise 80's dessert.
The Lord has asked all attendees to contribute to the evening's music with their 5 tracks of choice. I would like mine to be of a food theme, more precisely, sausages, mash and gravy. Can the massive help me out?
So far I have... Monster Mash - Bobby Pickett, Gravy Train!!! - Gravy Train.

You'll need some veg with that lot.

So Give Peas A Chance - John Lennon.

You could go with

Neil Young - T-bone (got mashed potato)
Bob Marley & the Wailers - Them belly full (not on your theme, but it'd go down a storm)
Madness - Don't quote me on that. I don't know if that ever has been released on CD though.

The Stranglers - London Lady

Best song to mention a sausage ever, although I'm not sure if it's dinner party suitable!

Little lady
With Dingwall's bullshit
You're so stupid
Foetid brainwaves
Little lady
What really happens?
When you see mirrors
You get the shivers

Aaaah!

Making love to
The Mersey Tunnel
With a sausage, have you ever been to Liverpool?
Please don't talk much
It burns my ears
Tonight you've talked for a thousand years

Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick
Plastic's real when you're real sick

Tell me what you've got to look so pleased about
Tell me what you've got to look so pleased about

Oh London Lady
Why did you lay me?
Your head is crowded
With the names you've hounded
The lines around your
Eyes they show me
You realise the party's over, London Lady
Party's over, London Lady

Tell me what you've got to look so pleased about
Tell me what you've got to look so pleased about

'Making love to

It's real!

From the first Stranglers album, great little bit of punky pop/poppy punk. Work firewall blocks the old Youtube, but it's probably on there.

Ooh.

You could have "Do You Love Me" by the Contours, because it's brilliant and contains the words "mashed potato" several times.

Thinking too literally, perhaps..

The theme from MASH

Lonnie Donegan - The Cumberland Gap

The stranglers (again) - Golden Brown

or perhaps these alternate versions:

U2's Pride (In The Name of Spuds)

Village People's grand opus "In the Gravy"

The Smiths - Meat(and two veg) is murder

If you think phonetically and ignore the musical side of things..

Lulu's "Boom-Banger-Bang"?
