It's Friday afternoon. Time for some heads-down no-nonsense mindless boogie!

Ladies and gentlemen, the Georgia Satellites. Beat this for a twelve-bar dandruff-dislodger.

Head and Shoulders - Irish style
I posted this on the Live Albums thread a little earlier but seeing as David's laid down a challenge ......
Rampant ranchery
It's a re-tread of the Cadillac Ranch riff, innit. (Still top pops, though, all the same - and they're to be commended for not donning any silly hats.)
Superb timing...
Mr Hepworth. Love the Satellites.
Battleship Chains must be the greatest 2 chord song ever written. Still kicks like a mule every time I hear it.
Georgia Satellites Facts
1) They didn't write Battleship Chains. It was originally by a band called the Woodpeckers, who featured guitarist and former Satellite Dan Baird. When Baird subsequently rejoined the Satellites, he took the song with him, despite not writing it. The Woodpeckers then became The Woods, who released their own version of the song.
2) I saw the Georgia Satellites at the Town & Country Club around the time of this record. I was chatting to an attractive young lady at the bar and presumed myself to be progressing quite nicely, thank you very much for asking, until another gent muscled his way in and vanished with her inside a couple of minutes. Damn you, Lemmy.
Wart a cheek!
Bloody rock stars...
Fantastic
I love the Satellites too - I had a look on YouTube for one of my favoutite tracks, "Mon Cheri" and sadly there is no footage if them doing it, though there IS a home made video of someone with the unlikely sobriquet of Lazerbox, ahem, dancing to it. Lovers of the sleazy will probably love it, including I'm sure the Satellites themselves. At risk of offending the more sensitive bloggers I haven't posted it but I am sure a quick search will locate it.
A great tune for a Friday evening
and, of course, covered by the Hindu Love Gods on that fine album of theirs. Where are they now, I wonder?
I'll see your Georgia Satellites
and I'll raise you one George Thorogood:
Saw him supporting The Stones in 1982
And again a couple of years ago. Highly recommended for a good night out with the lads.
Always overlooked..
Saw him play the Electric Ballroom on a bill with Albert Collins in 1979. A veritable sweatfest, and one of the best nights out with the lads ever. "Drink was taken.."
Town and Country
I saw the Sat's twice at the Town and Country, around the same time - both were absolute tear ups that I would include as a two of the best gigs I've ever been too - and the only time I've been in any audience that's danced out of the venue and down the streets.
Dan Baird's 'Love Songs For The Hearing Impaired' is well worth lending an ear to as well.
