Their parents should be proud.
I think it's safe to assume that
they've listened to Vampire Weekend?
This isn't the new thing is it? Afro-centric copyists of Paul Simon / Bhundu Boys etc.
I like to think
it was The Red Guitars they were listening to.
I'm not mad about the song...
but the guitars are quite interesting.
Sort of..
But rather limited in the technique department.
It's basically
plus
(check out the interesting guitars Patrick!)
I like that
And I will be downloading the album off emusic later tonight.
Thanks for the tip!
I heard a
little bit of early Aztec Camera guitar in there which means I will listen some more, thanks.
Oh God, No!
as nice as this actually is and as much as I like it, what teenagers should be doing is nothing like this, and that is annoying the living shit out of their elders.
Why?
I've always wanted to know why its accepted that teenagers should be annoying their elders.
This must be a relatively recent phenomenon - surely in 1830 or 1930 the kids weren't pissing off the older generations were they? Then rock n roll comes along and the suggestion in some quarters seems to be that the young are doing something wrong if they aren't rebelling.
By doing this are we not just suggesting that they have to copy previous generations in the annoying stakes? Anyway, aren't they perversely managing to annoy the shit out of some people by not annoying the shit out them?
Errr ... sorry ... don't know hat came over me there.
that's the wonderful perversity of it all of course
"aren't they perversely managing to annoy the shit out of some people by not annoying the shit out them?"
Yes. Indeed they are.
Still, wouldn't it be dull if every generation was exactly like the one before? I think the annoying thing is nice, just so that each successive generation gets a chance to be exactly who they want without the need for eternal, conventional conformity. It happened in Greece and Rome, thank God it happens here.
Just wanted to add
That I've been really enjoying this album - so thanks again for the tip!
