iPod Touch/iPhone & BBC iPlayer

Leedsboy's picture

I'm lucky enough to have been given a swish iPod touch for my birthday yesterday. I eagerly (once I got it back from my son) thought I would download some BBC stuff from the iPlayer and watch it at my leisure. However, there doesn't appear to be a simple way of doing it.

Anyone discovered the secret of how to do this?

If you are on a Mac

Then get yourself iPlayer Grabber at

http://fader.co.uk/post/iPlayer-Grabber-the-iPlayer-downloader-for-Mac-O...

and this will allow you to download most of the BBC iPlayer content DRM free (which means you can keep it). Its iPhone / iPod touch compatible so once its downloaded just import to iTunes and sync to your iPod.

Theres an alternate, iPlayer Downloader, which overall is better (as it allow multiple downloads at once) but it hasn't been updated for the recent age restriction changes on the BBC iPlayer site. It can be found here....

iPlayer and mobile phones

Here's the official explanation of what does and doesn't work re: iPlayer and mobile devices.

Only the player

That deals with using the iplayer as opposed to getting content from the iplayer to watch with a different player.
