iPod shuffle moments
Spot the Intro
Got what I thought was "Los Endos" by Genesis (from "A Trick Of The Tail") only to find, as it got going, that it was actually "How High" by Madonna (from "Confessions on a Dancefloor"). I'm sure that there's a more radical difference of styles to be had but I can't think of it at the moment.
Right song, wrong ambience
"Knights of Cydonia" by Muse - there are bits of it that, in the right circumstances, you can imagine rocking out to like the cast of Wayne's World doing "Bohemian Rhapsody", but not if the track comes on while you're in the childcare section of Waterstones.
The QI of iPod tracks ?
"Chasing Cars" came on shuffle last night - don't actually remember putting it on there, maybe it just appears by default. I had this overwhelming feeling that Stephen Fry was about to appear and deduct lots of points from me. At least I don't have "Rock Your Body" by Justin Timberlake, otherwise I truly would have been in danger of turning into a local radio station.

Smith play Zeppelin...
Yeah, thinking about the "Spot the intro" idea. Any time I hear the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now" the moment I hear the throbbing intro and that swooping guitar sound there's a bit of me that immediately thinks, "Hmm, is this something from Houses of the Holy?"
Smiths = Led Zep - not a connection I would normally make (and my earnest Smiths fan chums back in Uni days would, indeed, be horrified at the very thought) but there's something about that intro that just evokes 1973/4 era Led Zep for me!
I always confuse...
'Town Called Malice' by the Jam with Phil Collins' version of 'You Can't Hurry Love'.
Until the vocals kick in anyway.
Ipod intro confusion...
...Blondie's "Fade Away And Radiate" sounds like "Hollow Hills" by Bauhaus. I nearly have to be at the chorus of "I Can't Even Touch You" by Steve Harley before I realise that it isn't "(Feels Like) Heaven" by Fiction Factory. PS I know that's probably the worst collection of songs ever featured on the word website...sorry!
