iPod dock/DAB/time-telling doobry advice needed
Posted by GD Nicholson Esq. on 2 January 2009 - 1:04pm.
With a scant amount of Christmas cash burning a hole in my pocket, I've got my eye on a new DAB set to offset my intermittent internet access and I'm hoping that someone among the massive can offer some assistance.
Ideally i'd like one that can dock and play stuff from my iPod and can also wake me up with a DAB station. I've seen a lot of machines that do a couple of these things but it baffles me that they seem to only offer FM/AM on the clock radio alarm. Oh, and i'd like something that offers at least semi-decent sound quality too.
Not too much to ask is it? Yes? Oh, Ok then.

Don't buy a Pure Chronos
I had 3 before I gave up. If you altered the dimmer then you got noise interference at low volumes. It kept resetting the volume to full when turned off as well - so you got a blast when you turned it on. I replaced it with an Eton (link here -> http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/DAB_&_Digital_Radios/Clock_Radios/p6256.asp....
Like it a lot - great sound, nice looking box with a separate dock and the remote lets you use the full ipod menus (most only allow skip track, on/off and volume). Only flaw is the display is small so checking the time is a bit of a squint.
Bose Wave Radio ?
I have one of the orginal Bose Wave Radio's which has been rock solid in terms of quality and a pretty good sound for a clock radio. I recently saw an advert that they do one with a DAB module and I know they have an ipod dock module - not sure if can have both at the same time......
See what these gentlemen have to offer...

I got the RDi as a Christmas present for the Mrs and it seems to do all you require. Very good value on Amazon at the moment.
