IPhone Help.
My main PC died some months ago which hasn't caused too many problems other than my IPhone was linked to it.
Once again not too much of a problem as I can get most of what I want through my Wi-fi connection and I have all my "original" music etc on it. However, I'm now a few versions of the operating system behind and would like to update to enable me to delete paylists directly on the handset etc.
I can setup another I Tunes on a laptop but imagine that as soon as I synch my IPhone it will delete everything on the phone.
So does anybody know if ITunes will backup up my IPhone when setting up a new ITunes?
Have any of The Massive dealt with this problem?
The FPO and FPO in waiting are out tonight so its a good excuse for pottering.

You *should* be OK.
Yes, you'll have to wipe the phone and build from scratch again, but if memory serves, you will be given the option before doing that to transfer everything on your phone onto your new computer.
Failing that, do a Google for Senuti. It's iTunes backwards (geddit) and syncs your computer with your phone, rather than the other way around. That might be your best try.
Oh and...
...someone recently recommended this to me. No idea how good it is, but it looks interesting.
I've just remembered that Senuti is Mac only. But try googling "Senuti for PC" and see if there's anything similar.
Apps yes, data no
I moved an ipod touch from one Mac to another last weekend and it took ages but eventually all my apps were transferred to the new PC and the new PC behaved like the old one. All that went missing was the data (notes, calendar, podcasts, music, spreadsheets, 4G of Wikipedia etc) but that is all backed up separately so it wasn't a problem to me.
If you set up a new iTunes library on a laptop
simply go to Preferences and select under the Devices tab 'Prevent iPods, iPhones & iPads from syncing automatically' this should stop iTunes from deleting everything from the iPhone without your permission.

Ye Gods, you brazen devil you.
The "FPO and FPO in waiting" are both "out tonight" you say? You mean you keep them both under the same roof?? Are you sure you're on the right thread??? Shouldn't you be over here: http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/content/torn-between-two-lovers-who-has-th...?
Thanks
but it didn't matter in the end as I've discovered that OS4 wasn't released for the original IPhone, so technically my Iphone is on the way to being obsolete. It's still a thing of wonder though.
To clarify the "FPO in waiting" is my daughter - hang on a minute that's worse! What I mean is that she will be become an FPO one day to some poor soul.
And whilst I'm at it can I recommend "The Economist" app for the Iphone, which even has an audio version of the text - I can't believe it's free.
