There's a interesting Christies auction coming up on the 1st July. It's tagged 'Popular Culture: Rock & Pop' the catalogue is interesting reading. It looks like it would be worth the catalogue price just to have a look around.
How about John Lennon's 1958 Hofner Senator - estimate £100k

a little less sense? I really don't understand what it is that impels people to part with huge sums of their hard-earned to try to own a little bit of some famous and often dead pop star. Still, each to his own.
Agreed...
...safe to assume that in 1958 Lennon only bought a Hofner Senator because he couldn't afford a Gibson, Fender or Gretsch. I'd like to own a guitar once owned by a Beatle, who wouldn't, but not at that price.
