Iggy Pop, rock star
Posted by rocker43 on 3 May 2010 - 11:43pm.
A thread devoted to the primeval rock'n'roll of Iggy, whom I had the pleasure of seeing live with the Stooges a few years ago (when Ron Asheton was still alive). Iggy and the Stooges were the real deal and their legacy lives on in punk, metal, goth and several other genres where authenticity and street attitude counts for more than polished production and musical versatility. Indeed, I'd rate Funhouse as one of the best US rock albums ever produced, a document of the cocaine, fuelled, hedonistic nihilism that Iggy represented in the early 70s. Anyone else into a bit of Iggy now and again? Here he is doing what he does best.

Just saw him last night
Doing what he does sooo well, he's spectacular!
He was by far..
..the best thing in Jarmusch's "Coffee And Cigarrettes," proving himself to be a natural comedian.
Can't help thinking he missed his calling, however comical his musical output has been.
Totally agree
Waits and Pop are on top form in that film. Which is definitely best watched in bite sized chunks!
Jarrmusch
Was bopping away last night to the Igg man

Lust For Life is a terrific album......
.......full of great tunes - Lust For Life, The Passenger, Tonight, Turn Blue, Some Weird Sin. And the bass and drums on that record sound fantastic. The Sales brothers. This album would make my alltime 20 list, possibly even the top 10.
The Idiot is rated very highly and has some great tunes - Nightclubbing and Dum Dum Boys in particular, but Lust For Life is the best Iggy album for me.
Just to keep my thread going. Like the comments so far.
I was there on mon night
and at the funhouse gig too
Iggy - best frontman ever?
