If your brain was an I-pod - what would be its most played track?
shamelessly stolen from Danny Baker this but if your memory stored all the songs you ever heard in your life so far - what would have had most plays?
It may not be a song you like. You might have had a holiday job at a fairground on the Waltzer and had to hear 'You Spin Me Round' 250 times a day in the ummer of 1985. You may have worked in a record shop and the maniac who ran it played nothing but 'Industrial Estate' by the Fall for a month. Or during that time some of us have where they listen to Radio One all day either by choice or at work you may have heard their non varied playlist spew out 'Wonderwall' at every half hour.
Or it may be that single you played over and over until the plastic wore out. This can take in concerts, radio\tv,clubs, whatever
So my random thoughts......
Most played track ever - Watching the Detectives
Not only through seeing Costello a couple of dozen times n then some live but through bootlegs and the records themselves as well as it being about the only thing that gets played on the radio of his.
Of the winter of 1997 - One Man Army by Prodigy
As a lowly student I earned a palty sum painting a house that our landlord was doing up. the proper builders just listed to Radio One so every day I heard the same flippin records, played by the same DJs it was like purgatory. Smack My Bitch Up was out but they couldn't play that at daytime so they played the B side more often than the instrumental version. And then usually 2 hours later they played it again. Plus one of my housemates had the single so he usually blasted it out daily too.
Of this month - The Train From Kansas City by Shangri-las
Although Dylan has been catching up fast this week there's not one set song so it'll have to be this little pop gem, shoulda been a massive hit. Just lifts my heart and makes me click my fingers
You know how to find it if you need to so i won't insult your intelligence by posting a youtube clip

The opening bit to Prince's Diamonds and Pearls
which is exactly the same as the opening bit to Bobby Goldsboro's Summer (The First Time).

I bet a lot of men reading that comment wish that Summer (The First Time) was on their list as a way of stirring memories.
From school....
Running in the Family by Level 42. Every day for two years. No idea why, but as I left English class, it would come into my head.
Stuck on repeat, one track...
For no reason whatsoever.
