Ian Dury in his pomp!
Posted by masked tortilla on 16 April 2010 - 10:26am.
Courtesy of Sight and Sound in concert, BBC4 are showing Ian Dury and the Blockheads recorded live at Queen Mary's College, London, from 1977 - a must for all Dury fans. It's on Friday 23 April at 10.50pm.

The concert, which also features Dr Feelgood, is followed by the Stiff Records documentary "If It Ain't Stiff", worth a look for anyone that missed it before.

i saw that when it went out
I was 12 at the time. Remember it clearly. The Dury portion has since been released on DVD. The Blockheads are cooking throughout, with most of their performances being way superior to the studio versions IMO. Watch out for the total lack of special effects - just some coloured gels on a few spots - and the stage is so cramped with all the gear and some enormous BBC cameras that the band can hardly move.
The Feelgoods set I haven't seen since the original TX. It's from their post-Wilko/Gypie Mayo period. Will be interesting to see it again now!
A great performance
Yep, the Feelgoods performance is great. I have it on an old tired VHS copy from VH1, Might've even been introduced on VH1 by Mr Hepworth.
Looks like a great nights TV.
Don't forget
Uncle Ian gracing our sets one more time tomorrow evening...
