Have you tried it yet, Lee?

I've listened to the first two episodes twice now and struggled to get into it.

Having said that, the first time I tried was while on the treadmill in the gym under a very loud speaker, and the second was on a crowded train from Birmingham to Liverpool at the end of a long, busy day and I fell asleep. So it's probably my fault; but, if it was good, wouldn't it have grabbed my attention whatever the situation?

I've still got all 20 episodes (so far) on my iPod and will give it another try, but I don't hold out much hope. It would be fantastic if you were to tell me that I should...

No

I have always shied away from his work but thought this was the ideal opportunity to give it a go. Am waiting for a car journey worth its salt to try it.

Don't say that,

David, I too have it sitting ready to accompany me on my Liverpool half marathon training which starts tomorrow (the hills of Childwall, alas).
I have never read his sci-fi but this was billed as a nice half way house with his (literary) fiction.
Anyone else read or listened to it yet?

Having read it (old-fashioned stylee)

I wasn't impressed. And I speak as someone who loves the Banks. I thought The Algebraist was a work of cunning genius. But Transition left me very 'meh'.

And I have been downloading the podcast. Didn't listen until I read it, traditionalist that I am.

I've read it

And found it incomprehensible.
