I Tunes to IPod / Apple TV album issues - help appreciated!

Martin Simmonds's picture

I’ve got a ton of music on my ITunes collection that is nicely organised when viewing ITunes on the computer. However when I look for an album on Apple TV it interprets albums with tracks by multiple artists as separate albums.

So a record with 20 different artists creates 20 albums. I’ve never quite grasped the compilation concept on ITunes as it tends to separate these from the rest of the material.

What am I doing wrong?

iTunes Settings

There are two settings in iTunes that should make iTunes behave properly with compilations when transferring to an iPod. Just edit the album properties with the following...

i) Assign the "Album Artist" field with something along the lines of "Various Artists". This will ensure that the individual tracks remain as the individual artists but consolidates the album into one.

ii) In the options tab when you are editing the album properties select "Part of a Compilation" as "Yes" (or if you are editing a single track, tick the box that indicates part of a compilation)

Ahhhh

I think your first point could be the missing link! I've done the second (which has tidied things a bit). I'll give that a go tonight.

Many thanks
