I need an uplifting song!

woodface's picture

My other half has an interview next week and I would appreciate some suggestions relating to uplifting, aspirational reach for the stars type song which is not naff nor needlessly obscure. Also, no swearing. The challenge is there, is the word massive up for it?

I'd say Eminem - Lose Yourself

but there might be some swearing!

This video promises to be clean & it lists the words so you can check carefully before use.

I've always had a soft spot for this

whenever a little positivity is required. Not sure it fits your particular need but as a cynical old sod occasionally I need to be reminded of my inner softy!

not really lyrically apt

but I always found this song by the occasionally derided Embrace uplifting

Ashes

All the best to your wife!

United States of Electronica - "It Is On"

No, I'd never heard of it either, but it is pretty joyous:

Aretha

But what sort of music does she like? No point in an uplifting song that grates.

Good luck.

No, no, no...

...the only way is... Long Tall Sally by Little Richard. If that doesn't make her feel positive and uplifted and bring a smile to her face then nothing will. And it's such FUN!!

To clarify

It will be part of a 'presentation' to a young audience (hence the no swearing). I am thinking maybe a bit of soul? I am drawing a total blank at the moment.

my girlfriend listened to this song.

I think this might fit the bill

Not willfully obscure, certainly soulful, uplifting, no swearing - and I think most people know it but they don't know that they know it.
