I love This Blog

itfc1959's picture

Apart from the fact that there's a general age consensus and that we therefore all seem to be singing from the same page on Life's Long Song Sheet, there are some cracking writers on here to boot. I thought some of the stuff on the mid-life crisis would not have been out of place in the magazine, and more than a few of the one-liners had me laughing like a drain, much to the consternation of Mrs ITFC1959.

Ah, it's good to be among friends.

Me too

I have been up to my ears at work for the last couple of weeks and haven't had the chance to keep up with the Word blog as much. Its something I missed a great deal.

Me Three

I love the cordial tone and when some nastiness does break out , it all gets resolved in a gentlemanly fashion.

On The Fence | 18 June 2010 - 11:45am

Agreed

except that at 23 I would like to think I am a fair way from midlife crisis ;)

0
Sam Grinsell | 18 June 2010 - 11:53am

Pfft... Child.

Shouldn't you be at school listening to your Dizzee Bonkers mp3s on a tinny mobile phone speaker at 12kbps... or something

:-)

0
stimpy | 18 June 2010 - 11:55am

Only do that to scare oldies off!

rofl, lmao, ;) etc

0
Sam Grinsell | 19 June 2010 - 1:51am

23?!

I can't even remember that far back...

0
Patrick Crowther | 18 June 2010 - 12:46pm

23?!

I've got underwear older than that.

1
Billybob Dylan | 18 June 2010 - 11:43pm

Me too

I think this is a great blog and although there are a lot of people the same age, there's a decent mix which I think can only be a good thing.

Yours,
Joe R, 23 and three quarters

Me too

Let's all have a group hug.

*hug*

0
Neil Walker | 18 June 2010 - 1:21pm

A firm handshake...

and a little nod of recognition will do me. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was a hippy.

0
Patrick Crowther | 18 June 2010 - 4:15pm

I'm 27...

... for the record.

Chris

0
MurkeyChris | 18 June 2010 - 2:19pm

I'm 36...

... and I've just filled in a job application and I'm now on the third age bit. First time that's happened. Oh well, off to the midlife crisis thread I go...

0
ganglesprocket | 18 June 2010 - 2:24pm

"I'm 37 ...

... I'm not old"

1
Douglas | 18 June 2010 - 11:15pm

Female

and 38 and like you a relative newbie here.
So far I've found it illuminating, entertaining, moving, and bloody hilarious.
Carry on.

0
drakeygirl | 18 June 2010 - 4:10pm

32

I love it here too. I probably blather on too much, and I don't doubt the feeling isn't quite fully mutual, but I really do love it.

Fifty Four but ...

0
Pencilsqueezer | 18 June 2010 - 4:57pm

Good news is

I'm sort of in the middle at 43. Bad news is that makes me officially middle aged. Another 10 years and it will be bifocals and pile cream.

0
Leedsboy | 18 June 2010 - 5:30pm

Make sure you get the bifocals

before attempting anything with the pile cream.

1
Steven C | 18 June 2010 - 5:32pm

In all honesty

are you saying you can see round there anyway?

0
Leedsboy | 18 June 2010 - 11:26pm

I had assumed that the pile cream

comes with small print instructions (or maybe some sort of application device involving a mirror on a stick?)

0
Steven C | 19 June 2010 - 12:16am

Varifocals give you all the benefits of bifocals

but without the irritating line across the lens.

Can't advise on pile cream though :-)

0
stimpy | 18 June 2010 - 5:33pm

...but aren't they a BUGGER

to get used to when you first try them? Nearly broke my neck walking down the stairs on day one. And they cost as much as I spent on my first hi-fi! Jeeeze.

0
Vulpes Vulpes | 18 June 2010 - 5:41pm

Snap

Although I'll pass on the bi-focals and pile cream

0
chrisf | 18 June 2010 - 6:23pm

My Dad..

..had piles and specs by the time he was my age, (42) and so far I've managed to steer clear of both. His liver and personal finances were probably in better shape though. Swings and roundabouts...

I love this blog

I like the way it feels like I am talking to mates. I was very interested & quite moved by the comments about my mid life crisis, I found it quite touching.( Pauses to reach for a hanky)

I shall stop now before we all hold hands & start singing
"Kum by Aah"

Peace & Love.

I thought your post said

I love This Boy. Still, any excuse to play one of the Fabs' finest moments...

0
DougieJ | 18 June 2010 - 11:33pm

Oh gawd!

Not them again! :-)
I love it here too!

0
Adman | 19 June 2010 - 1:25am

I love this blog too

but my home is looking a little uncared for since I started to join in on all the fun here... Ah well, cleanliness is close to boredom, or however the saying goes.
And I'm 43 ( no, I guess I will be 43 in August ? OK, just realized that I've been telling people that I'm 43 for a whole year in advance...now they're gonna think I'm lying next year, like those people who turns 39 ten years in a row - oh dear... ), and this August I'm going to my very first musicfestival!
So no, I don't worry about growing old. In fact, I like it. Less and less pressure to be cute and normal. Next stop fullblown eccentricity!
My theory is that it's more acceptable for a man to become old and "ugly", but the relief is much bigger for us women, when we finally stop trying to be attractive...! So I'm looking forward to losing all of my vanity ( not quite there yet though )!

Locust | 19 June 2010 - 1:10am

first music festival

Bless !! I was 48 when I went to my first music festival, had a brilliant weekend & I am sure you will too.

I shall expect a wriiten report within 24 hours of you getting back !!

Enjoy

Peace & Love.

0
jackthebiscuit | 19 June 2010 - 1:16am

No

I'm not going to the "Peace & Love" festival, I'm going to "Popaganda"...
"Peace & Love" is in another city wich means you have to sleep in a tent or get an overpriced hotelroom..."Popaganda" is in the middle of Stockholm, a few subwaystops away from my comfortable home!
As I said; I am 43 ( 42 ) and I am well past my tent-by-date!

( Unless you meant it as a "live long and prosper"-type greeting, in wich case I say; Thank you and I wish you the same! )

0
Locust | 19 June 2010 - 2:28am

Peace & Love

It was meant as a best wishes type way of signing off !

Enjoy your Festival, make sure you go in the dance tent,
& I meant what I said about a written report when you get back // recover !!

Peace & Love

And just remember...

... our Christmas - Glastonbury on the Beeb - is but days away.
Best weekend of the year for the massive.
I'm off the ale for a few days now, sleeping lots and getting a few runs in to sharpen the intellectual muscles in anticipation of being brought to book by Fraser while he's by the Pyramid and getting top tips on single malts from El Hombre Malo.
I feckin' love Glasto with the massive.

1
PaddyH | 19 June 2010 - 1:26am

"our christmas"

arf!

Yes, I'm looking forward to it

0
el hombre malo | 19 June 2010 - 5:53am

Glasto on the BBC

My favourite TV event of the year bar none.

Last year I watched Springsteen on a Hotel TV the night before I saw him in Hyde Park - Fantastic.
