... but isn't that what one should expect from Kate?
Personally, I found Director's Cut fairly dull earlier this year, but I'm looking forward to the new album. I'm sure none of it will achieve the heights, though, of her cover of Sexual Healing. *cough*
It was part way through when i tuned in, so I wasn't aware of who it was, but was intrigued enough to continue listening. My initial feeling was that it sounded like nothing else currently being played on radio which is always a good sign, and gradually I joined the dots and it dawned on me that it was the lovely Kate.
Having now heard it a few more times it just sounds better with each play. It couldn't be anybody else. Strange, unique & beautiful.
It's classic Kate in that it's her being musically unpredictable and still coming up trumps.
If it reminds me of anything it's David Bowie if he, rather than David Sylvian, had made music with Ryuichi Sakamoto in the 1980s after Scary Monsters.
"Hello, is that EMI?
Yes the new LP is ready, it's 65 mins long and has got 7 tracks on it and no singles"
Click..brrrr
Slightly peturbed by the intro which sounds alarmingly like the Acoustic Guitar Pre-set on a Korg M1 and at first I thought it was a Demo. Gets better as it goes along..and its got a flange at the end. Quite happy to have Bush getting a bit Psychedelic.
If that's the most radio friendly track then I'm expecting something along the lines of Talk Talk Spirit of Eden, long exploratory tracks with lots of er....mood and texture..probably not going to have a 'Running up that Hill' or a 'Babooshka' on it is it. Am I right?
It's confounding...

As most artists get older
they tend towards self-parody.
Sorry, but this is not good.
I heard this on the radio today.

Wow
to coin a phrase.
thanks
Thanks for posting this. As Georgedivided says above, it would be nice to hear stuff like this on the radio more often.
It bodes well for the new album.
I love Kate
But I'm a bit underwhelmed after two listens. May be a grower. Still can't wait for the new album, double vinyl of course !
Lovely
Sounds like a chilled out Kate from "The Dreaming" album era to me.
It's wonderful

I love it too.
I can't tell you how relieved I am about that.
Sounds reasonably bonkers
