but I don't think they look at all alike.
The reason for their non-coincidence vicinity wise is probably because one is fictional and the other all too real.

Lynch-like stuff in real life is much more mundane.
The ventilation system in the conveniences of the local Wetherspoons hums forebodingly like a bit of David Lynch sound design - or at least it did the one and only time I've been there.

is operated by four personality-free men in matt black dungarees and balaclavas, who frantically jiggle hand-held joysticks connected via a bundle of hydraulic tubes that run up his legs. The men were all subjected to lengthy dehumanising at a bunker deep underneath GCHQ. The hydraulic tubes are filled with vital juices taken from benefit scroungers.
