I have tended to think Shakira is not much cop,

musically that is (clearly she is absolutely gorgeous looking). But then I happened upon Jools Holland recently and I find myself rather liking this new hit of hers. What say you pop pickers? (Her dancing style is quite exciting too).
Whilst writing I should like to commend new band 'Hot Rats' members' (Danny and Gaz of Supergrass) 6 Music show, which is currently playing. Some of the songs they have played: 'Revolution Blues' by Neil Young, 'Maybe Im Amazed' by McCartney, Carpenters 'Superstar' and Beach Boys' 'Heroes and Villains'. The radio show's just about finished but it's on next Sunday around 3:30 and I expect you can replay today's.

Sometimes
she's right on the money and actually much more interesting than much other female performer stuff around. There are some less good things, but no one is perfect all the time, are they?
On an entirely separate note, she does look utterly stunning. But I did hear some of her stuff before I ever saw how she looked; it didn't affect my opinion of it.
New and improved?
I have only heard her well known hits and they have not made we want to explore further. But this is more modern sounding, in a good way. It reminds me a little of Bat For Lashes (vocal effect). It also has an electro-pop thing going on. I wasn't keen on that latin style (sound and look) she had before (albeit derived from her own culture, no doubt).
She used to be indistinguishable
from Stevie Nicks in her prime, pursuing a similar witch-in-chiffon schtick, but recently she seems to have abandoned that in favour of trying to carve out a more mainstream pop-goddessy niche for herself. I'm not sure what robot dancing has to do with howling wolves, though, but I'm sure she'll find her way eventually.
At least she's cut down a bit on all that bloody yodelling.
Good tune
but I find myself chuckling every time she does that really weedy wolf howl in the chorus. "Awooooo" indeed.
I know what you mean
but I find it quite endearing. Part of this song's appeal for me is it's craziness.
what is what really
what is what really attracted me to this song, she could have gone for some huge wolf sound, but that slightly pathetic effort is a lovely touch. Not been a fan before, but will keep an ear out in future
[contgrats! as far as I can see no one has the word 'Kookie']
It takes all sorts..
I liked Shakira before, but found this to be a bit too reliant on autotune. I liked that tango thing she did on an earlier album (something to do with laundry the LP was called) The DVD extras on our daughter's copy had a brilliant live version of it with lots of drums.
I'm a sucker for drums.
Not entirely my cup of tea, but credit for writing her own songs and producing her own records - at least she is not a puppet. The fact she is gorgeous doen't do any harm either.
Spot-on, Skuds.
Has anyone heard any of her Hispanic stuff aimed at the domestic market? Is it any good.
She isn't familiar with the concept of the Ugly Stick either, is she?
Too much yodelling
Way, way too much yodelling.

re:
Awesome dancing....I hear she does a lot of humanitarian work back in Columbia.
don't really like record but, if I may say so...
she's got a great arse.
I had to check out some pics of her
on the internet, just to make sure, like.
In the official video
she's in a cage wearing a flesh covered bodysuit, which at first glance makes he look, well, naked, frankly.........
That's why I never wear one
For which we're all most grateful, Sven.
:-)
Its really not very good
Her dancing is just awful as well. Her main qualities seem to be attractiveness and flexibility. Which seems enough to garner mega sales but don't really cut it for me in a singer.....
I quite like it too
Over the last couple of days...
... this has grown on me massively.
When I first heard it, my reaction was 'meh'. Now I think it's a disco/pop classic. Brilliant guitar break, ace 'electronic voice' bits and - as milkybarnick pointed-out - the half-arsed 'awooo' in the chorus is funny. And there's nothing wrong with a bit of funny.
