I Forgot How Excellent This Is Part 4...

In most Britpop histories they probably don't even manage so much as a footnote but I think this is rather unfairly ignored:

Pretty and relentless at the same time, a rare but brilliant combination, IMO.

Oh Yes!

Your right it was good wasn't, I seem to remember they got a bit of a hard time for having a singer who was far too attractive for your usual indie irks.

Tune!

I'd forgotten all about them. Great track ... thanks for posting it.

About the video, though ... ;)

Blast from the past

I've got a bit of a soft spot for this track (Motorbike To Heaven). I *think* I saw Salad live at The Roadmender in Northampton. But I might be wrong. Ah, those were the days, when I went to so many gigs I can't actually remember whether I saw a band or not!

Cor, and indeed, blimey

That was Emma Peel-tastic.

Goodness me

..mightily impressed by both those tracks. I think I ignored them at the time (I may have lazily lumped them in with a band called Powder) but I shall most certainly seek more out. The singer does bear a resemblance to that poet, Fiona Pitt-Kethley, only far more pleasing on the eye.

I believe the singist...

the fabulously-monikered Marijne Van Der Klugt (TMFTL - why didn't they just use that and have done with it), started out as a model and then became a presenter-type (I refuse to give the ridiculous term "VJ" credence by using it) for MTV before Salad got "big" (I use this term relatively).

dmc911 - Given those laddy Britpop Loaded-influenced times, I'm actually surprised her looks didn't give them a bigger profile. It did Sleeper no harm, after all.
