I forget more than I remember....I think

niallb's picture

When the 'Us' album came out in '92 I played this track to death. Tony Levin's bass used to loosen my fillings and make my kneecaps tingle. Then, as my brain began to age, it knocked on the door only rarely - yet every time it did, I remembered the sheer elation that the song gave me. The other night, round at the rellies, my brother-in-law put this dvd on and fuck me, its stunning. When Ged Lynch and Levin come crashing in at 3.25 to join the wonderful David Rhodes on guitar you really understand the meaning of the old term 'rhythm section'. So, as PG faffs around with terrible covers, just remember how wonderful he can be. Bless you, Philip, for sticking this dvd on when we were very, very drunk. I haven't been able to get the song out of my head for a week. Turn it up to 11 and rattle the neighbour's windows. Good day to you.

Wonderful...

Of course, but so is the new album and I don't give a damn what anyone thinks.

I saw the 'Us' show...

...in Glasgow and it remains one of the best gigs I've ever seen.

It's funny

but hearing Gabriel speak at the start of the track he reminds me of Gideon Soames, Simon Day's history professor on The Fast Show.

San Jacinto is still one of my all time favourite tracks for the earth-quaking vibration of Tony Levin's bass.
