I don't read The Word
Posted by Kay Lester on 31 July 2010 - 11:48pm.
I'm not hit seeking or suicide bombing, honest, I just thought I'd share that I don't read the mag. I used to get it, but I just don't have the time now, what with the kids and all those books i still haven't got to and the black vinyl i've carted from attic to eaves and learning the piano and bridge and and..everything else. Haven't listened to the podcast in over a year. Never miss the blog, though.

The more life goes on...
... the less time there seems to be, Kay. I have friends with busy lives/jobs; I don't have a busy job - in fact, most of the time it feels like a prison sentence and time drags all too slowly. And yet... it still disappears and not much seems to be achieved. And one ruminates about such a state of being... A paradox!
I carted an old Leo Kottke LP into my workplace last week (a library in a music college). At least it got played there! I think its about making time for things. That said, I hired one of my teaching colleagues for a few weeks last year to try and learn the piano until I realised, with a heavy heart, that it would take much more in terms of time and effort and willpower than I had to give to get to a level where I could feel some level of creativity and freedom as a pianist. But do keep it up yourself!
The bridge, though. That could be a bridge too far... :-)
You don't know what you're missing Kay..
..take the last issue for inst.
6 pages on Warren Beatty's penis, at the end of which we were informed all his films were shit anyway.
there's a certain tone
that comes over this blog at this time of day when the Aussies come aboard.

The Word blog
My favourite waste of time.
No magazine - what do you swat flies with?
Don't worry, you'll be retired eventually
and you'll have all the time in the world to just fritter away on inconsequential trivia :-)
Note: I've just spent a jolly hour collecting all my various Hozelock components from around the garden and lining them all up along the back of a shelf - in size order natch.
