How many records have you got?
I have around 750 cd albums, 400 vinyl albums, 600 singles and 300 12" singles. Not a bad collection. My girlfriend wonders why I've got so many. Why don't I get rid off them all now I've got most of them on my iPOD and hard drive. I'm going to have to show her this to show her what a real collection is. This guy has about 2.5 million (yes you read that correctly) pieces of vinyl. Incredible. Hats off to a great man.

Haven't counted them
for a while but between 1800 and 2000 cd's. Vinyl went sometime ago.The ladies generally don't understand our obsession with collecting but it is more logical than collecting shoes thats for sure!!
I feel for him
because one man's obsession is another man's plant pot.
But does he have anything by Joe Dolce?
Interesting video
You would think the Library of Congress (if such a thing even exists) would want it. Or even someone like Bono or Neil Young would be happy to buy it.
On a non-relevant side note about used music:
I've been looked at the used CDs on eBay and there seems to be a tendency for them to sell scuffed and marked CDs. All my CDs, with about two exceptions*, are in the exact same condition as the day I bought them. How do people damage their discs? Surely common sense dictates that you keep them in the case and handle them from the edges.
*I dropped "Grace Under Pressure" by Rush so it has a tiny scratch on it, but it plays without any problems. Admit it, you wanted to know.
OK... he's got a lot of records...
but I heard no passion coming from him regarding the music... just numbers, rarity value etc. I hope I'm wrong, but he came across in that film as having been someone who just got the collecting bug in a big way without truly loving music.
He should have
He runs the Record-Rama. Go through all that stock and there will be multiple copies of unsaleable LPs like Rod Stewart's Greatest Hits, Ultimate Manilow and anything by Barry Manilow. The rare records he was showing off was just a sales pitch.
Our survey says
3,552 CDs at the time of writing, which I only know because I have a bit of software that catalogues them. Plus assorted vinyl, downloads and, erm, cassettes.
In fairness, I did rep for a major label as a student, which was a plentiful source of free records, and despite being poorly paid, did give me 10 back catalogue records of my choice a week and all the spare promos I could eat.
