How I decide to buy music

daddyorchipsblog's picture

Having surprised myself by enthusiastically purchasing a new album on the basis of hearing one embedded YouTube vid, I had a think about the usual filtering/assessing procedure I generally follow.

Would most of the massive have a similar process?

I've re-sized and re-compressed the image to make it larger, yet smaller, and more legible.

Nice decision tree

but it missed the, "I wouldn't normally be seen dead buying a Daniel O'Donnell cd but it's what Mrs. F wants for Xmas" loop.

My boss discovered a Daniel O'Donnell CD at work...

and after an enquiry we have yet to establish who it belongs to. Most strange it is...

heard it on the radio ?

did you miss that box out :) ?

That was my 1st thought

The 2nd was I heard it on Later or similar music programme.
The 3rd was I heard it at a friend's house / in friend's car.
The 4th is that I saw the artist / band playing a support slot and was sufficiently impressed to buy at the gig.

Absolutely.

I have in front of me a CD by The Longsands, purchased at a From The Jam gig on Wednesday. They supported. They were jolly, jolly good. So I put my hand in my pocket.

What is this 'radio' of which you speak? "Like a live podcast" you say? It must be some kind of sorcery....

Sounds emerge from a box, powered by "the ether"!

Don't really listen to the radio much

But have picked up a few interesting things of BBC 6, especially Steve Lamacq playing Cable and The Joy Formidable...

Also got a few things after seeing them on ....Later (Seasick Steve, Feist, Acoustic Ladyland...)
