How has the new Elbow album not leaked yet?

Merv's picture

I'm really looking forward to hearing Build A Rocket Boys and I can't believe it's not on the torrents yet. I've pre-ordered the 'deluxe' version online and paid to download the first single off of iTunes, by the way, so it's not like I'm trying to take food from their mouths, I'm just amazed it's not yet available in some form or another.

Elbow guards?

More power

to their Elbow, I say.

2
drakeygirl | 4 March 2011 - 9:09am

Urgh

When you say Elbow album and leaked, all I can picture is gravy seeping out of my computer.

Spartacus Mills | 4 March 2011 - 9:27am

.

Guy Gravy??

Apathy?

I've noticed that a few of my fave acts' recent offerings didn't leak. Perhaps a new Elbow album lacks the urgency of an Eminem or Britney demo?

I'm partial to a bit of Elbow every now and again and all but I suspect their demographic might not overlap much with the eager torrentmakers/takers.

Actually, scratch all of that; it's all over Filestube.

New Elbow album.

World yawns.

5
eddie g | 4 March 2011 - 9:38am

Well, clearly not.

There's quite a pitch of excitement in the meeja and among people who, erm, like Elbow. Which is now quite a lot of people.

What you means is "eddie g yawns", which is fair enough but not the same thing.

Bob | 4 March 2011 - 10:22am

The world I know

is yawning. And I work in the meeja.

0
eddie g | 4 March 2011 - 10:28am

Depends on

which meeja trumpet you work for. I assume it's Women's Realm.

0
Axekeith | 4 March 2011 - 7:38pm

It was Justin Bieber's birthday earlier this week...

the meeja were all a-frenzy for that - so it's no wonder he's jaded when it comes to an Elbow album.

Wo-MAN's Realm

Mr Keith.

I would advise more research before unleashing yer rapier wit.

It has leaked. I've had it

It has leaked. I've had it for three days. It's an extraordinary album. And yes, I've preordered it too.

1
Futurenoir | 4 March 2011 - 12:30pm

It has leaked

But is one of the few I intend to wait until I buy it. To save a treat for myself.

I heard "Lippy Kids" on Youtube, and its stunning. I'm looking forward to it. Though as yet I don't think they've managed to repeat the early fragility of "Switching Off", "Red" or "Powder Blue".

badger_king | 4 March 2011 - 12:53pm

Deluxe Version

I haven't ordered it yet, do you get anything extra?

0
kidpresentable | 4 March 2011 - 1:39pm

as far as I could tell only a

a silver foil cover?

0
Chris G | 4 March 2011 - 1:43pm

I have the regular

plastic cd case, and also the digipack, with a little bit of foil.

Appears to be the same 11 tracks on both, yet the digipack is an altogether nicer "thing"

Will have a listen after lunch

No need for torrents

Wait a few months, put the telly on and listen to the background music of any sporting event/music event/crowd event and you'll hear it all, I'd imagine.

Torrent schmorrent, come to Ireland

Hop on a Ryanair to Dublin, Shannon, Cork etc. The album went on sale here this morning (as do all new releases). C'mon over and get the REM album and Noah and the Whale as well. And, sure, while you're here we'll give you a pointer or two about how to catch a little red ball sailing through the air. But, if you're too busy, we can do that elsewhen.

The new REM allbum

Does every other song on it have an intro that sounds like Monty Got A Raw Deal?

0
JamesB | 4 March 2011 - 2:54pm

Universal have done a massive job to keep BARB under wraps

or so I'm told by my mate in the record retail business.

He's bringing my copy to the pub tonight, so that's the rest of my weekend sorted.

0
heshofcheese | 4 March 2011 - 3:10pm

Perfect

had it in store for a couple of days. Utterly perfect, another Elbow album basically (and for Badger King, the fragility is back in a couple of the mid album tracks - Jesus is (was?) A Rochdale Girl in particular)
I'll give a big tick to the new Noah and the Whale album at the same time, vaguely mid eighties-ish, shouldn't work but is a damn fine pop album.

Bought It This Morning (Dublin)

very good it is too

0
Pat Carty | 4 March 2011 - 7:16pm

Bought it...

today as well. On my third listen now, am loving 'Lippy Kids'. Listening to that song in the car on the way home the lyrics "stealing booze and hour long hungry kisses and nobody knows me at home anymore", made me well up a bit! Stupid I know, but what can you do?!

0
humphreym | 4 March 2011 - 7:27pm

Gah!

That lyric sums up my loathing of Elbow as surely as that 'marriage in an orange grove' tune from their last long-playing atrocity. The syrupy sentimentality is just too much to bear.

0
Spartacus Mills | 5 March 2011 - 9:46am

I agree..

Mr Garvey could learn a thing or two from Motley Crue's Vince Neil I reckon..

Lick My Love Pump

Or as Garvey would put it 'sweet honey lips on summer days, soft against my glans.'

1
Spartacus Mills | 5 March 2011 - 1:24pm

We get it...

you hate them.
