Hop Farm

Uncle Monty's picture

While everyone's getting excited about 'name' festivals like Glastonbury or the Word-sponsored Latitude (both of which I love), the Hop Farm has quietly announced a rather spectacular line-up for such a wee event. Van the Man and His Bobness are headlining and there's support from the likes of Ray Davies, Richard Thompson and Blondie.

Looks like they're going all-out to attract the powerful market force that is 'Word-Reader'.

The full line-up is here: http://www.hopfarmfestival.com/media/8487/full%20line%20up.pdf

I grew up round there and it's hard for me to imagine Dylan coming to Paddock Wood; think I might have to head back home that weekend...

After the

disorganised clusterfuck disaster of the 1st Hop Farm festival you wouldn't see me within miles of the place.

- Insufficent toilet facilities
- ill prepared car park staff with little to no idea what was going on in the after gig snarl up
- buses that were meant to shuttle people to the nearby train station were missing, stranding people in the usual English summer downpour

I won't bore you with the rest. This wasn't 'teething troubles', it was an attempt to save money by cutting costs and corners

Mr Power should have been so ashamed that he'd never try and organise anything bigger than a staff office party in future. The offical websites forum was quickly closed down due to the volume of complaints

Its no wonder that the next year they ended up giving away £100 tickets to those who bought £20 T shirts online

They're not

local, are they. I grew up in that area too and I get the same odd feeling, the thought of pop stars playing there. Not to mention the smug amusement at so many people getting stuck in traffic because they don't know the backroads.

Haven't been to a gig there myself, though. Pay all that money to see some music types play the hop farm? Don't be silly. That's what Hyde Park's for.
