Posted by Dave Amitri on 7 March 2010 - 7:52pm.
Talking about booking the family holiday tonight, probably me and the wife taking a tour of Cornish skate parks again with our boys. It got me thinking about the very different holidays of my youth and this. Of course if you would like to share yours........

Not Choon, but Torquay 1990
Me & 4 mates walking along Torquay Seafront reciting this:
(I believe Drink had been taken)
Outh oF France, summer 1980
The whole album was a favourite but this was the song of the holiday
and "'ands off me daughtaaa" became the holiday catch phrase.
JONI MITCHELL - HISSING OF SUMMER LAWNS...
..whole album, Greek islands, 1999, pure bliss......
Memories of Newton Ferrers in 1979.
It pissed with rain - it was the time of the disastrous Fastnet race. I spent a lot of time in a tent with a transistor radio and a copy of Smash Hits. Thanks to Messers Ellen and Hepworth's early travails, I still know all the words to Reasons To Be Cheerful. Even if they said it started "Some of Buddy Holly" and I think it's "Summer / Buddy Holly" I know, when pronounced by Ian, they sound the same but my version seems more in keeping with the spirit of the song.
South Devon 1980
carefree times - this song captures the spirit of a hazy English summer
