Holby City - Drama But not as we Know It

N2Peach's picture

Gentle viewer, I cast my eyes on this pearl last night. Cor blimey, it was way past bad acting to "Crossroads" standards. All that was needed was for Benny to arrive saying his head hurt. However what pushed the whole enterprise in to another zone was Leslie Ash as hospital big cheese. I swear the producers are going for comedy. Her lips were more ridiculouse than a circus clown. Is this possibly the best present example of seriouse soap as comedy?

I'm forced to agree

I'm usually the first to leap to British drama's defence, but I saw this the other night too and was quite taken aback at how bad it is.

Its far-fetched, ludicrous storylines and really excecrable acting must make it one of the poorer shows on TV today. Having Tina Hobley and Patsit Kensit 'Healy' in the cast really doesn't help its cause either. Robert Powell looks like a walking skull and Lesley Ash in those outsize glasses and outsize lips looks frankly absurd.

Storylines are always bonkers - it's known as Planet Holby in certain circles - but really, it's gone too far. It's utterly ridiculous.

Planet Holby - How Apt

It is obviouse how it got this title. Lesley Ash must have one hell of an agent, with those lips she could transform the Diary of Ann Frank in to a comedy.

It's my wife's favourite show

...to the point where she has to catch up on Iplayer if she misses an episode, so I end up catching quite a bit of it. I can confirm that Patsy Kensit is atrocious, but am not sure why Tina Hobley has been singled out above... she's not that bad is she? (I admit, I do have a bit of a soft spot for her...) Five Centres' description of Powell as a 'walking skull' is spot on though.

Some of the scripts remind me of this gem from Friends' Drake Ramoray: "I'm delivering twins today, but only one of them is mine..."

Ian Brown must look at Robert Powell

and see himself 15 years hence.

Patsy & Lesley's Plastic Lips

why? That's all I want to know....just why do people do that? Steven Tyler's got a lot to answer for.

Is Nigel

off the Eastenders still in it? He did very well on Celebrity Mastermind with Captain Beefheart as his specialist subject.

Seen a screencap of Leslie Ash. She looks like her own Spitting Image puppet. Very sad cos there was bugger all wrong with the way she looked as God made her.
