Entertainment For Lively Minds
Hmmm. Podcasts.

I used to be able to get the podcasts as they were released, without the need for iTunes (which I have successfully kept out of my life for quite some time now). An alternative subscription method/address was given and this is what I have been using. The last one (Desert Island discs etc.) has still not yet arrived and doesn't appear to be on the server. According to the helpfiles of the software I use, MediaMonkey, I am best advised to remove the subscription in MediaMonkey and re-subscribe.
Problem is, on your podcast page there is now only a link to an iTunes podcast page for those who wish to subscribe. Does this mean that now there is no other way of subscribing except via iTunes?

Not at all
There's been no change to the feed URLs - you can still subscribe via any means you like using http://feeds2.feedburner.com/WordPodcast or http://laxman.hipcast.com/rss/wordpodcast.xml - both are up-to-date, and the former is still linked to on the podcast page at http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/podcast
No iTunes here either.
I use the podcast catcher Zencast. I suppose it's for Zen users. I am one but I don't synch my Zen to my pc. Anyone can use it.
Anyway, the point of my reply is that the feed I use is slightly different from the one in Fraser's reply.
The feed I have is - http://feeds.feedburner.com/WordPodcast
No problems here.
Thanks Fraser
I found the feed URL as you described on the Word Podcast page (I was looking at the subscription links to the podcasts from your front page and forgetting there was another page specifically dealing with the 'casts). Unsubscribing and resubscribing using the URL there (same as posted by bigstevecook - many thanks to you also) did the trick and I now have Podcast 173 and another older one (#162) which I was unaware I'd missed.
Happy now.
I do...
...use iTunes but 174 isn't there either. I've tried all the usual ways but the podcast doesn't appear in the list
That's because Podcast 174
Hasn't been published to iTunes yet. It'll be up later today.
Ah...
Thanks, Fraser
