"Hi Steve. Love the show!" (a.k.a. Radcliffe & Maconie's self love-in)
I listen to Radcliffe & Maconie's show every day (well, just Maconie's show at the mo'). I record it and listen later so I can skip through the inevitable daily plays of Lykke Li, PJ Harvey, Fleet Foxes & Friendly Fires, and like probably most here I really enjoy the banter and [most of] the music (more so the oldies than the newer stuff).
But am I the only one to have noticed over the past, say, 6 or 8 weeks, they seem to have descended into gushing self-congratulatory mode? You know for a fact that, on every other link they do, they'll read out half a dozen tweets/emails telling us how great it was to hear whatever mildly obscure* song it is they've just played on daytime radio, and aren't 6 Music great? (*probably a Pink Floyd album track)
Yes, we know 6 Music play slightly leftfield music, that's the very reason we listen to that and not Radio 2 or commercial radio. To keep banging on about how great it is that they're adhering exactly to the station's remit is, at best, a bit needy, and at worst, a bit Steve Wright.

Craig Charles
Fell into that pit tonight, after replaying his Amy Winehouse interview.
It was a good piece, but my enjoyment of it was not enhanced by knowing how much Eric in Rochdale loved it as well.
Meat from Mars here
just wanna say how much I love these posts.
I am being serious.
First Time Caller
It's an excellent show but, in my humble opinion, was more suitable to the evening slot. Also, while I'm here, can I say that as much as I like both chaps who are very good at their jobs I don't think they work together that well, it's similar (clever musical metaphor coming right up) to two front men singing in a band. Not quite a Yin and Yang thing if you know what I mean.
Sorry to Eric from Rochdale.
