Henry Priestman

Uncle Mick's picture
When:
21st May 2011
Where:
Settle Victoria Hall
Comments:
Former Yacht and Christian Henry Priestman with accompanying guitarist Pete Riley made a very low key entrance(stumbled on stage) in this quaint theatre and performed songs from the critically acclaimed "The Chronicals Of Modern Life" together with some early Christians hits and the classic "Suffice to Say". The seating was cabaret style with tealights! and Henry was humourous and engaging with a fair bit of banter with the audience of about 50/60.It was an intimate little gig and all the better for it. New songs "Her Ladyship", "Valentine Song" and "A Pint Of Bitter and Twisted" with accompanying audience participation bode well for the next album. I believe the artist "felt the love" as the crowd departed with warm hearts.
The Audience:
50% Yorkshire 50% Lancashire after a quick straw poll. Half owned the album, half did`nt. Mostly 45+ upwards but definitely up for a good time. Quite boisterous and that was only our table.
Food & Drink:
A small selection of beers and wines availible from about £2.00. No food but Henry recommended The Shambles for fish and chips though we went to the Fishermens Arms prior to the gig
It Made Me Think...:
Another underrated British singer/songwriter who deserves greater acclaim. A thoroughly nice chap despite describing himself as a lanky hat wearing four eyed knob.
