Help required please...
She's a lovely lass, but Mrs W sadly does not share her husband's passion for all things rockular.
But she knows what she likes when she hears it and occasionally I am tasked with finding odd songs she has chanced upon on the radio or telly.
And so it is this morning. My mission is to find two songs based upon the slimmest of clues. And I need some help.
The first is apparently two blokes doing a modern rap/R&B type thing. The only clue I have is that it samples 'True' by Spandau Ballet.
The second is by the Fatback Band (she thinks). "I'll know it when I hear it" she says. The usual (and obvious) contenders have been tried with no success.
A bit outside the normal Word parameters I know - but any suggestions (other than trade her in for a wife with a bit more taste?)
- More from Paul Waring.

Quick update....
....Fatback Band track successfully identified as "I Found Lovin'" which she already had on an old compilation cd.
Which leaves the 'True' sample to be identified...

Beany You're a genius....
Once again the Word Massive delivers - in record time.
Domestic bliss chez Waring!
I think this is what Mrs W is after
Very good it is too. can’t help with the Fatback Band I’m afraid without a bit more of a clue.
The only thing i can think
The only thing i can think of sampling True was by PM Dawn, called Set Adrift On Memory Bliss from earlier 90's i think
Thanks guys...
Within 15 minutes I get three (spot on) responses to the first question - the second was always going to be a stretch!
Anyway the business now done with iTunes and the GLW's iPod now boasts the two tracks she was looking for.
I also chucked a bit of Tom Waits on there while she wasn't looking. That'll make her jump when it comes up on shuffle!
Is this a gender thing? I am not sure..
I recognise the habit of poorly describing songs. It can get worse when an attempt of "Never Mind the Buzzcoks" mimicry is attempted and you end up sounding like Vic Reeves pub singer. It's a bit like when women try to explain a car by describing its colour. Or even worse where the car was seen....I know blokes have similar hang ups such as remembering birthdays etc.....does that balance any apparent unintentional sexism? I hope so...
No. It's also an age thing...
I can't for the life of me remember what jobs I am supposed to be doing today. But I can remember some minute trivia about an obscure group I saw in the '70's.
Paul - I was going to suggest some R&B for your wife's iPod, with a twist. Remember Float On by The Floaters. The record I have is Bloat On by The Bloaters. Just googled it and, for the life of me I did not know, this track is by Cheech and Chong and appears on one of their CDs. A very realistic version it is too.
Failing that, how about some Chris de Burgh...* winks to Commoner *
(If you find that support group let me know. I've seen him live a few times, albeit before Lady In Red)
CONFESSION TIME
I too saw him live. I actually told people at school. To this day nobody contacts me from Friends Reunited...
Neil Diamond
For years, I kept quiet that I'd seen him live. Now that he's the hippest thing around I can admit it!
And...
What a beautiful noise eh?
