Help Identifying Song

goatboyuk69's picture

I wonder, after seeing many similar entries recently, I can call once again upon the combined knowledge of the Massive?

It begins very, very quietly and then moves onto a sort of chair scraping noise. At one point a man coughs. After a little while someone makes a noise a bit like this: "Humumph". Then theres just silence for a bit then it ends.

Its about 4 and a half minutes long. I heard it in a library once and its identity has been driving me mad ever since. I've tried Shazam but it doesen't seem to know it.

Any ideas?

I think I've heard the same song.

when I was in New York, in 1952.

Surely a man of your age

could enlighten me?

I've heard a few cover versions, one of which clumsily tried a "mash-up" with the Eastenders theme tune, but nothing has come close to the first time I heard it.

I once heard it with a distant dairy included. Didn't work for me.

Just tried Shazam again. Nothing.

How dare you?!!

A man of my age? Why sir, I'm only twenty-three.

I walked out anyway. It was too loud for my ears.

I definately

heard this at a Justin Currie gig a year or so ago. I don't think it's one of his though, sorry.

I've never understood how the people

who did the background sounds for the Archers avoided having to pay royalties to John Cage ...

I've got that record...

but it was taken by the Inland Revenue baliffs when they impounded my vinyl collection in lieu of an unpaid tax bill back in 2006. I will gladly run you off a copy as soon as it's returned to me.

Anyone able to lend me £125,867.53 + interest? Happy to pay you back as soon as my premium bond comes up trumps on Ernie. It's for goatboyuk69 so it's worth it. Honest.
