I cannot abide

staged goal celebrations. Horrible, no matter how 'funny' they are.

Fraser sent me this....

....and, while it's certainly noteworthy, I just wanted to slap each and every one of them.

rubbish penalty too.

This, on the other hand...

Fantastic

I got sent that the other day and the first time I watched it I couldn't work out what had happened. But when I saw it from behind the goal ... well, it's just genius.

Reminds me

of a certain Paulo Di Canio goal (forward to 1.53):

little un's in bed

so I had to lol in silence - and i hate staged celebrations too, but that is ace, the theatre is so much better than the goal.

I loved that.

The team is from Garðabær in Iceland, and I like to think that the celebration is a tribute to the local fishing industry. Perhaps English teams will follow suit, with Stoke City acting out the creation of a lovely Wedgewood pot, and Northampton Town performing a piece in which they eke out a pair of fine gentlemen's brogues.

You'll be coming over all Shakey then...

...if Bury acted out making black puddings.

It's a penalty, for god's sake

I also hate such staged celebrations, but the irritation factor grows when they accompany a penalty. A penalty should be celebrated by no more than a raised arm, a la Shearer.

A firm handshake and a hearty "huzzah"

Perhaps a pat on the back as well.

None of this girlish acting.

I loved that.

Thank you.
Why do so many of you hate staged celebrations. It's only a bit of fun.

I remember

copying Mick Channons one armed windmill when I was a kid, now THAT was a celebration.

Of course, goal celebrations can sometimes backfire
