I'm surprised that no one has yet mentioned the excellent new series on Five USA - Breaking Bad. It got off to a flyer on Tuesday night. It seems it was also missed by most of the newspapers (too busy reviewing Spooks (again) and X Factor, perhaps?), although the Guardian provide a brief synopsis here

Definitely worth setting the timer on the Sky box.

Breaking Bad
It was first shown in the UK months ago, maybe on FX; it may have been last year even. Hence the lack of a recent fanfare. I thought it was great and am waiting for the next series.
Very enjoyable
The premise is similar to Weeds, done in a Coen Bros style methinks, but the first episode was effortlessly enjoyable in a way that Americans seem so good at and we struggle to emulate. This is of course the subject of ongoing debate in TV circles and in the Guardian etc.
Strangely for Five they do not seem to be repeating each episode 3-4 times a week so it will be easy to miss.
Really enjoyed it...
I really enjoyed it when it was on FX, happy Five are showing it now. Just waiting for the 2nd series whenever that may start
I'm surprised I missed it first time around
But I'm glad I've now caught it. My only gripe is having to watch it as broadcast. I absolutely DETEST commercial tv -- 5 minutes of adverts for every 10 minutes of programme. Yeah, I know, "the ads pay for your viewing pleasure". Still...
it's really good...
I caught it on FX and was amazed at Bryan Cranston. In just a few minutes, all memories of uber-sleazy dentist Tim Watley and the hapless Hal from Malcolm in the Middle were knocked right out of the park!
On series 2
at the moment and it´s every bit as good as the first series. All the actors perform admirably but , as Ivan says, Bryan Cranston is awesome. he´s just won his second Emmy for it.
Bryan Cranston is Jesus
Malcolm in the Middle proved that
