Happy Maundy Thursday!!?
Posted by Chris G on 9 April 2009 - 10:15am.
Encouraged by a recent word cd I got the Air France mini lp. It’s rather good, excellent summery dancey stuff I’ve seen it described as “beach foam pop”.
It’s a lighter version of Cumbrian hip hoppers Aim.
Anyway a striking thing is they have a song called “Maundy Thursday”
Is this most obscure holiday celebrated in song? You can hear it at
Air France myspace.

How about these?
Jethro Tull:
BELTANE (Wiccan celebration of the conjoining of the goddess with the energy of the god in the sacred marriage which is the basis of all creation - May 1st)
RING OUT, SOLSTICE BELLS (Winter Solstice - 21st Dec)
The Wishing Tree:
OSTARA (Spring Equinox – March 21st)
I know it has been much covered but
I like this version of the Billy Bragg song:
excellent stuff
we need a virtual stone henge calendar to set them out in.
Casimir Pulaski Day
Casimir Pulaski Day is a holiday observed in Illinois on the first Monday of every March to commemorate Casimir Pulaski (March 4, 1745 – October 11, 1779), a Revolutionary War cavalry officer born in Poland as Kazimierz Pułaski. He is known for his contributions to the U.S. military in the American Revolution by training its soldiers and cavalry.
I wasn't aware of any of that, but I do know it is a beautiful song by Sufjan Stevens.
we may have our winner
