Happy Birthday to Buddy Holly

ganglesprocket's picture

Today would have been Buddy Holly's 75th birthday. A trailblazer and the first rock and roller to make glasses look cool, he was too brilliant for mere words.

So lets all post some music by one of the true greats. This vid features a really great stiff intro...

Happy birthday Buddy - if I knew how to post music then I'd post Think It Over!

Cover version

My parents got me into Buddy. I'm constantly astounded how many rock 'n' roll blueprints he made and how fresh they still sound. Impossible to pick a favourite (at the moment probably You're So Square as I sing it at the kids whenever they goof) so instead here's cover version I love. A friend of mine is a Wreckless Eric fan and I remember crashing on the floor of his flat after being dumped by a girl and listening to his version of Crying Waiting Hoping. I'm so pleased someone's posted it on YouTube:

Grew up listening to

my brother's 'box set' Buddy Holly. Remember reading years later that BH had what was called 'East Texas' teeth, apparently messed up by the water in that area ... anyway a fair tribute of a mixed up kind below. Maybe BH would have approved ..

Bring back National Service

Imagine if The La's had done a proper stretch at the Star Club. Would have given them some backbone. Bring back National Service.
