Hair Today

Dr Volume's picture

Very much enjoyed reading the 'Where are they now file' bit on page 29 of this months swingorilliant new edition of Word.

I noted with interest that the 'Ooh To Be Ah' hitmakers have a new single out, and couldn't help but Google to see what haircuts they're sporting nowadays. I was not disappointed. Check this action out!

They have a new album out too, which features a song about Lady Di, Versace's murder and 9/11 and a solo piece for Chapman Stick by Nick Beggs (the one sporting the slightly unnerving Swedish au-pair pig tails above). Ahem.

You can scoff but there aren't enough crazy barnets in rock and pop these days. I say, find out who is styling ver 'GooGoo these days and set them on Midlake, Fleet Foxes, Will Oldham and Wilco. That'll liven things up a bit.

Bloke on (our) left

Let's face it, we've all done this to our hair many times. At bath time.

That's called a

"shampoo horn", I believe.

Nice work the chap at the back with those Francis Dunnery-style plaits.

Whilst they look...erm....

A little older than their hair seems to believe they are, I do agree with the good doctor, we need some more uber styled haircuts in the charts (or anywhere) I want my turn now to say to the kids 'is that a man or a woman, I can't bloody tell these days'.

Praise be to Dappy, though.

At least he gives thousands of dads the chance to give it the whole "What the bloody hell does he think he looks like? What's that bloody ridiculous thing he's got on his head?" line that dads are contractually enforced to come out with when confronted with MTV.

Nick Beggs

was sporting those plait-pigtail thingies when I was a nipper. Has he persevered with them for the last thirty years, or has be brought them out of retirement?

It looks to me

that at least half of them were once making a crust as the Tweenies. They even recycled their old outfits.

Marvellous

Spot on Dr V, more pop stars looking like pop stars is A Good Thing.

Rather taken with them writing about 9/11, Lady Di & Versace too. Nothing like being topical, is there? Perhaps they can pen a ditty about the siege of Mafeking while inspiration is flowing?
