Prompted by the podcast mention for the lovely and talented Melissa Auf Der Maur and by the fact that I'm very pro-ginge, being married to one, let's have a big up for "gwangers in rock n roll"!

When The Who first encountered Keith Moon (as a member of the audience, before he joined the group) he was obsessed with surf music and, in homage to the golden boys of California, had attempted to dye his hair blond. It had turned out pure ginger.

....wearing clothes the same colour as well? I have some vague recollection of this; and how he trashed the drum kit at his first audition - even though it belonged to somebody else....
