Entertainment For Lively Minds
Greetings pop pickers!!!!
Hey, this is my first entry for my first ever blog and makes me feel all goosepimply or something like that. Excuse me for being over 2 weeks late in signing up to your new venture but have been away on business in dear old USA. Got to see Bruce at Madison Square Garden last thursday and the geezer was in great form - got treated to Candys Room and Tougher than the rest which are 2 of my Bruce favourites so was altogether a great night. Got back the weekend and just in time for Richard Thompson at Birmingham symphony hall - with Michael Jerome on Drums, Danny Thompson on Standup Bass and the multi-talented Pete Zorn on anything else that you can think of this is by far his best live band.In particular Michael Jeromes drumming is superlative - he must have one of the smallest kits of any rock drummer but his feel is just unbelievable. Great set including several classics such as I still dream, Wall of Death, Al Bowllys in Heaven and a stupendous version of Hard on Me with a blistering solo that made the ears bleed. However highlight for me was Sunset Song which has a really beautiful guitar melody.
Anyway a bit about me: love Costello, Richard Thompson, Eels,Lucinda Williams, Ron Sexsmith, Steely Dan, Elmore Leonard, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino,Jackie Leven, Word magazine, travel, ribeye steaks, chilli, vanilla milkshakes, bananas,Namibia,Birmingham (city and football club),New York,Paris and Buenos Aires.
Dislikes: Jose Mourinho, Roman Abramovich, queuing, Queen, Colplay, Keane and all the other navel-gazing insipid artists heralded as the next best thing, Bono (but not all of his songs), Aston Villa,Brussells, Stoke on Trent, prunes, semolina, tory politicians,GW Bush, traffic jams,IKEA and Tescoes.

Steve Turner pt IV
unfortunately I am not any of the suggested Steve Turners - certainly wouldn't be interested in writing about Cliff Richard but if anyone wants to inadvertently send me the royalties for said tome I will keep my gob shut!!!
