The Greatest Rock N' Roll Photograph?

Never mind those tired snaps of skinny boys trying to look mean and moody whilst propped up against a graffiti-covered wall; rock n' roll has been well served by photography over the decades. Trying to distill the essence of a performer in a single image is no easy feat, but thanks to the efforts of great photographers, rock n' roll acquired its distinct visual iconography.

This shot of Johnny Cash, by the peerless Jim Marshall, is about as good as it gets.

Any other suggestions?

This is the best, I think

I tried to post this in the 'greatest band shots' thread a while back but ImageShack was down. Take a bow, Elliott Landy:

Timeless.

P.S. Sorry about the sizing; I just cannot get it right...

Great...

it's a classic. Self-mythologizing at its finest.

Hey isn't that

The Felice Brothers?

The Clash

Personally I think The Clash have the best photos of any band ever. I don't think any band before then or since match.

Yeah, all those Dylan/Band shots from 1968-70 are pretty much perfect.
