Wayne Rooney
as "Bonnie" Prince Billy? I likes it.
Ronaldino
Just watching him doing his tricks in that video and all I kept thinking was wouldn't it be great if Norman Hunter suddenly entered the frame at full tilt and catapulted the bandana'd one and his stupid ball into Row G.
Tosh
But a boost in sales for Focus so cannot complain ;-}
Methinks it will all end in tears.
Oh...
is there football on?
No
It's The TV Advertisement World Cup.
Ahh...
now I've got it!
Did Cristiano Ronaldo's "people" have approval rights?
"OK, so then, between stepovers, we see him dreaming of this huge silver statue of himself - you know, like Ozymandias...."
His people probably thought they meant
Ozzy Ardiles.
They've been searching high and low for that statue ever since.
( Mainly low it has to be said ).
I do think Nike etc
underestimate the UK* publics love of Cristiano Ronaldo. If Rooney wasn't involved I would hope for "the curse of NIKE" to strike them all down.
* I know this may be an international ad.
I'm getting increasingly intrigued by the Great Gym-Pump War
These pairings of much-hyped "rivals" struck me as interesting:
Real Madrid v Barcelona
AC Milan v Inter
Chelsea v Manchester United
Liverpool v Arsenal
Messi v C. Ronaldo
Zidane v Cantona
Argentina v Brazil
Mourinho v Guardiola
They're sponsored, left to right, by Adidas v Nike.
Advertisers' Football...
Do hundreds of people still gather round TV rental shop windows watching football?
This ad is probably from the same people who think we all walk to the stadium with big smiles on our faces, singing and waving scarves above our heads.
I rather liked it
particularly the Homer Simpson bit, and the spot on usage of Hocus Pocus by Focus. It hasn't the "freewheeling" charm of the Brazilian team in the airport from 1998 but that was always a hard one to follow.
Anyway, it's better than watching John Barnes trying to rap again.
