Going Underground?
Posted by Uncle Wheaty on 15 August 2009 - 8:37pm.
I'm not sure how many people here hate the Tube and all of it's necessary nastiness to get around London.
Anyway here is a great tune to help ease the pain.
Beware that it contains strong language!
If you like this I can recommend many other great Amateur Transplants stuff on youtube.

I'd just like to say
That I love the Tube.
well that's fairly
unpleasant isn't it . shan't be looking up anything else these misanthrops have done.
I live in Glasgow
our 'Clockwork Orange' is a joy to ride, okay it's a much smaller town than 'The Village' but it's great, fast and clean-ish. I like it's smell!
I guess familiartity breeds contempt but I have to say
as a tourist I LOVED the tube. You can't get lost in London as long as you have a tube map in your wallet, a piece of paper about three inches long. That's brilliant. A touch of air-conditioning wouldn't go astray though.
As much as the tube can be uncomfortable on a hot day
London would be hard work traversing without it. If it was taken away, it would be sorely missed.
What I can't understand is the singer's suggestion to solve the problem - shoot all the LU staff with a rifle. Who's going to drive your "fucking" train then, sunshine? Richard Digance?
I made a decision seven years ago...
that I would never go on the tube again as long as I live. Probably more to do with me than the inherent unpleasantness of the underground. So far I have kept my promise.
The Amateur Transplants
Are great. Very funny and spectacularly crude in the way only doctors can be. Their Anaesthetists Song is a gem. If you live anywhere near Balham, they play at a pub there regularly on a Monday.
The Menstrual Rag is my favourite
even the girls in the office had to smile eventually, or maybe it was to make me stop singing it.
In Defence
Are all London Underground staff drivers? Do most staff earn anywhere near 30 grand? No. Maybe being abused on a daily basis by the sort of people that make this video may persuade you and your co-workers to join a workers union and get better conditions for yourselves.
Why do people always aim their anger at the people in the poorest paid jobs who have to work the most unsocial hours and get the most abuse thrown at them. Especially when they work under a mayor who considers 250k per year to phone in a newspaper column "chicken feed"
I'd also like to say
I love the tube, always have. The map is so well designed - a masterpiece of simplicity. Have you seen the map of what the network *actually* looks like? It warps your perception of London and where everything is.
