Glen Campbell's Farewell Tour
Posted by John_Black on 28 October 2011 - 3:01pm.
Had the good fortune to see him at the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool the other night (Tue 24th Oct)
Incredible dignity from the man considering his condition and an amazing performance.
Special mention to his 3 children who are an absolute credit to him.
If you get a chance, try and catch him before this tour is over.

Plymouth
Off to see him on Tuesday - can't wait!
Have read a few other reviews and all have been good!
Amazing
How things change. In a 2004 issue of Word, and many other places, Glen Campbell was a figure of fun. Remember all the half-stoned cowboy jokes?
He has been on the UK live circuit for years, playing end-of-the-pier shows (eg Glasgow Pavillion). Now, all of a sudden, he's the coolest ticket in town.
Getting sick has been good for his credibility and his career then? Or is that just a co-incidence?
Interesting
I think his current fashionability pre-dates the illness by some time. He's been playing - and selling out - the RFH for several years, after all, and certainly for the last three tours. I can remember when he wasn't cool - I recall a black tie dinner show at (I think) The Ritz back in the late 90s - but in my mind that time is long gone.
Speaking personally
I've been a fan for over 30 years.
When I told a work colleague he said "Oh, the Rhinestone Cowboy?"
When I asked him had he heard of "The Wrecking Crew" he just looked at me blankly.
Just goes to show
You shouldn't be swayed by magazine 'feeds' then should you?!? I enjoy reading reviews and comments but make my own mind up.
To be honest however, much as I loved the Jimmy Webb singles and album, until Meet Glen Campbell came along a few years back I never had no desire to see him either but that album changed it for me.
Nottingham
Saw him on Wednesday and had a great night. A lot of affection from the audience, none of whom I imagine were there because he is now deemed cool.
Agreed....
Also saw him in Nottingham Wednesday night. Really enjoyed the show and will be buying the new album.
Revelation
I've had the new album on all day and it's bloody marvellous. He will always be the voice of my favourite songwriter, Jimmy Webb, but this album is an absolute triumph.
Agreed re the new album
It's wonderful, he closed with "A Better Place" there was hardly a dry eye in the house.
