Glastonbury 2011

jackthebiscuit's picture

I am asking for advice. I have mentioned before, on a different thread, that I am a Glastonbury virgin. I asked a few questions about going, & that, coupled with my enjoyment of the BBC coverage in the last couple of Glastonbury festivals, helped me decide to register for next years event.

I have recieved my E mail confirming registration, so I am asking, in good faith, what happens now??

How do I buy tickets??

When can I buy them??

How many can I get??

Does having registered mean I am guaranteed tickets??

Will I have to take picture ID??

Any // all honest answers // advice gratefully recieved.

Many thanks.

Ok,

You buy tickets from Seetickets, via the Glastonbury website.

The time and date will be announced at some point, from that site, and they will surely send you an email too. Last few years it has been something like October 4th, so early October- It will definitely be a sunday, at 9AM, so set your alarm!

I can't remember how many you can buy, but someone will know. Limit might be 8? But you and a few others will be fine basically.

No, you are not guaranteed tickets by registering. So you do need go for it on ticket day, rather than sit back thinking they are reserved.

They don't tell you to take picture ID, so unless you and your photo are wildly different, you shouldn't need it. Then again, can't hurt can it?

And this place: http://www.efestivals.co.uk/forums/index.php?showforum=4
is a pretty good place to go for questions, answers and general chat with Glastonbury lovers. And hanging around there will give you detailed knowledge of all ticket sale stuff.

Hope thats helpful, and enjoy your time there next year - its one of my favourite places in the world!

How many can I get??

You can only by one per registration number, if you want to buy for other people as well they will need to register and let you know their registration details

Ticket day

On Ticket Day (normally first Sunday in October) you can now just pay a deposit for your ticket. This is £50, with the remaining £150 approx. to be paid in February.

The See Tickets site will be massively congested and you will have to be very persistant for anything up to 3-4 hours. The last 2 festivals have been big successes and tickets will go very quickly. You can also buy over the phone - the festival site will give you the number:

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/

You cannot buy using credit cards, only debit cards. Make sure you have funds in the account.

There used to be a limit to the number of tickets you could buy, but I think this has been lifted now.

Good luck!
