Gigs at Alexandra Palace
Posted by Leedsboy on 30 June 2008 - 11:22am.
Having this weekend got hold of tickets for Sigur Ros (one of the items on things I have to do this year list), I have started to doubt the wisdom of the venue choice.
Presume it will be in the Great Hall - is this just going to be a big shed? Has anyone been to a gig at the Ally Pally? If so, was it any good? I want my first time with Sigur Ros to be good after all.....

Stone Roses in ’89
Saw the Stone Roses there in ’89. Terrible sound. Not sure if that was the fault of the venue or the Roses. A bit of both I suspect.
It's the new Wembley Arena!
As in - it's my new least favourite venue in the world. It will kill anything or anyone. The sound is so awful it actually feels like you're in a different room. I've seen 3 of my favourite acts there and each time I left with a strange empty feeling inside. I don't know why anyone uses the place and I wouldn't go to a gig there again unless you paid me.
Feeling good
about the £60 and dragging Mrs LB to a hangar of a hall now. Ho hum. Will do a review on November and will get the thesaurus out and use 15 different words for massive.
Drum'nbass
Asked my lad who'd been to one of these young peoples things last year.
Reckons if you get up there before the crowds Leedsboy you will hear it still echoing round the building.
That sounds
like a ringing endorsement (stiff upper lip attempt at humour)
